Welcome to the First United Methodist Church youth group. Here's a little bit about us.
The youth group consists of 6th through 12th graders from dozens of Wichita-area high schools and middle schools. At any given youth activity, there may be anywhere from about ten to 100 people, so the size of the group varies depending on what we're doing.
So what do we do? The youth group offers lots of opportunities for fellowship. Most notably is UMYF, which meets Sunday evenings from 6 pm to 7:30. Sunday school is also a big event with classes for almost every grade level.
Each Sunday School class is unique. The youth participate in everything from learning about the bible's history, to reading bible stories, to confronting real-life situations, and addressing them from a Christian and teenage perspective.
For those who like to sing, the "Free" youth choir is a great activity to get involved with. The group sings almost every Sunday morning. It's a great opportunity to get to know people, and praise God through song. The best part is that every summer the group goes on tour to different parts of the country. The group travels in the luxury of a charter bus to perform in different cities. At the end of the line, the group gives a contribution to a charitable organization, along with a concert.
